MS Economic Development Week

This week (May 4-9) is Mississippi Economic Development Week where we acknowledge the efforts of our local programs that promote training and career development. These programs help provide resources and create jobs in the community.

Over the past year, many strides have been made in economic development for our region due to the efforts of the East Mississippi Power Initiative by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The four counties involved in the ARC EMPOWER Initiative, Winston, Webster, Choctaw, and Kemper, each implement training courses and programs to build a competitive workforce. Each program also uses the WorkKeys assessment to measure skills that potential employees need to succeed.
